I just had to reformat my hard drive and got my data.  I then copied all my gadgets from backup to a new folder on my C drive.  When I tried to open the made in the shade weather gadget it failed and Windows closed the program giving an unspecified error.  I tried dl'ing a fresh copy and it also failed.  I then tried some others and most failed.  The ones that work so far are Blue my Mind and CF65 (2 different versions).  I have no idea why this is happening and I've never had these problems before with these gadgets.  The only things I've had to do before were to change compatibility with Vista SP2 but that fails to work on these now (except it still works for CF65).  Anyone know what the problem could be?  I haven't tried any widgets yet because I haven't gotten around to getting DesktopX yet.

Check antivirus and firewall.

Also, anything you may have that blocks script.

Neither avg nor firewall blocks these gadgets.  I don't know of anything that blocks scripts and don't know how to check for that.

Did you try running them as admin?

on May 29, 2013

Yes, I also tried running as admin.  No luck.

I just loaded Blue My Mind on 7 64 bit. with no problems.

Any others you can have me try?

Blue my mind is one that works.  Fader , made in the shade, mezzanine don't.

on May 29, 2013

Fader seems to open, and disappear when I click the button to show more. I can fix that.

Mezzanine works fine for me.

Made In The Shade works here as well.

It would appear that something on your system isn't agreeing with the scripts in the weather gadgets.

Please let me know what the errors are.

Did you kill your anti virus and try again? Same with the firewall?

Some anti virus programs have script blocking abilities.

All of these gadgets worked well before when I had avg and the same windows firewall.  And, like I said, Windows doesn't tell me what the error is; just that it is closing the program.

Check your documents folder, perhaps an error report was generated. I know Objectdock does. And if you can post a screenshot.

Uvah: No error report is there.
